Ok here's my point let's say an MD writes a prescription for Mucinex-D which is covered by Medicaid in Texas. The MD writes for 1 tab every 12 hours #30- the boxes come in 18, 24, and 42 count packages- Would you guys dispense the closes qty(24) or give them the minimum or greater qty(42) or simply dispense a full box of 24 plus open up a new box and add 6 tabs?
Also, I got a prescription for Fentora which called for 1 bid qty 60- the Fentora is an expensive C2 but comes in boxes of 28- would you as a Pharmacist order 2 boxes and dispense 56 even thought it calls for 60 or would you order 3 boxes and take 4 out of the 3rd box?
Now obviously there are some medications that you can't break- years ago I saw an MD write a prescription for Birth control and put qty 30- when it obviously comes in packages of 28- for auditing person could they(insurance) penalize you if you didn't dispense the exact qty in the above examples?
