I think about 3 to 4 months.
You can go on the AAMC website and see when the registration dates open up for an exam on their calendar. 3 months ahead of time sounds about right.

I am considering registering for a September date but I won’t know if I’ll be ready for that September date until I start taking practice tests FL beginning of August with plan I’m following

I don't think you wanna wait that long to start taking full lengths. You should start taking them by late July. Also you would be charged a fee but you can always reschedule. Check the AAMC website for the dates. If you wanna take it in September you'd probably need to register very soon to find a spot in a location near you. Then when August comes around and after you've taken 5 to 6 full lengths you'll have a decent idea of how you'll do. If you don't feel ready reschedule it at that point. In case this helps I took 10 full lengths and besides the prinecton ones which didn't correlate at all my score went up each time. So don't think you're first or second full length are a good judge of your score. Your 7-10th ones will be the better judges (which were the AAMC exams for me).

What do you mean what if? Med schools won't see that if that's what you're asking. I don't think they give refunds though so you'd have to be fine with losing the fees and paying for the exam again.

Agreed. You need to have a gauge of where you are well in advance. I recommend taking a full length some time this month or next after reviewing topics your weak on so that misses on content will be less.I don't think you wanna wait that long to start taking full lengths. I would register for the MCAT sooner rather than later for two reasons:
a) Psychologically, you want to know the day of your MCAT as far out as possible. Knowing the day of your MCAT far in advance (3 or 4 months at least) will give a daily reminder of the task that is ahead of you and give you a sense of urgency.
i) If you wait, and wait, and wait until you register, you may end up pushing the MCAT further and further back. See how long you'll need (you can estimate this by looking through the content list, taking a practice test etc), see when you can start studying, and register as soon as you start studying.
b) the consequences of registering sort of late are awful; you have to go really far away and I think pay more money (not sure about this one).

What about waiting until day before the bronze deadline to make a decision for that specific test date
you may find your local testing centers full...What about waiting until day before the bronze deadline to make a decision for that specific test date

If I register before the silver deadline would I be good? Or does it have to be like three months out or so?

Is there any way I can see how many open slots are available for locations without registering for any location?
You should register the minute they make it available. Especially if you don't want to travel far to take it. I didn't register for mine the day it opened and I was checking AAMC every day just to get a location in my STATE!

When is registration open? or will be for 2019 test dates?

I have no clue, but it should be available on the MCAT page on the AAMC website. When is registration open? or will be for 2019 test dates?
As people cancel their MCAT or reschedule it, spots open up and the AAMC website puts them back on their site. They usually get swooped pretty quickly though, so I was checking for a testing center near me like 5 times a day since I didn’t register on time. When you said checking AAMC to get a location what you mean by that?
I think I registered for mine roughly 6 months in advance and still had to drive ~3hrs for my testing location. I guess it depends on where u live and what time if the year it is, but earlier is better
