Hello everyone. I need yalls help because my pre-med advisor is not very good. Please help me with you advice. I have made a post in the what are my chances section found here.

Most people are suggesting that I apply to DO schools. This simply isn't good enough for me. Don't get me wrong, both tracks are great but I am just more aligned with the allopathic path and thus I feel like it would be a better fit. Thus, I must retake my MCAT (again). I know I can do better, I simply don't believe that a 501 is the best I can do.

So my question is; when should I re-retake the MCAT. I really need to apply this cycle to avoid a second gap year. Here are the two choices/dates I have so far:

May 13th:
Pro: Would allow me to still apply within the first weeks of the application period.
Con: I would have to study now, while in school, which is what I did the last two times I took the MCAT.

June 30th:
Pro: I can start studying now, but most studying after the semester finishes during the second half of May and all of June.
Con: I wont get to apply until early August.

Please help with you opinions. Thank you in advance!

I would take the May exam if that is the earliest if you must apply this cycle. I believe applying late-ish (completed secondaries-July) hurt my chances with some schools. I think you should be open to TCOM as well to increase your chances of acceptance, because with a 3.75 sGPA and a 507 MCAT first attempt, I didn't get as many interviews as I had hoped.
If you are dead set on MD, then consider the possibility that you may need that 2nd gap year and improve your MCAT score a lot. I don't think you have a great chance for an MD interview in Texas. my opinion.

I suggest increasing your odds by including DO schools.
