I know PTCAS says to send transcripts sooner than later, but I was wondering about this case.

I am currently retaking A&P I and II this summer. Grades are not posted until Aug. 15th. If I send transcripts now, than my previous grades for anatomy (C+ and C-) will be used for the transcripts. I know I can do an academic update, but would it be better just to wait until Aug. 15th or is that cutting it too close?

When are the application deadlines for the schools you're applying to?

I would say as long as you're not Early Decision and as long as it's not cutting it too close to your app deadlines, August 15th sounds fine.

Hmm... That does cut it a little close, considering that PTCAS takes up to 4 weeks to process your application.

Is the school with the October 3rd deadline your top choice, or just a backup?

The Oct. 3rd school is a top choice, but not THE top choice. My first choice school is Oct 17th, so a bit later, but not too much better.

(PS. thanks for your quick replies!)

I would get them sent out asap once those grades are posted on August 15th. Is there any way to get the request into your school now with a "please send when Aug 15th grades are available"?

I'm in a similar boat. My A and P II class doesn't end till 8/4 and im' out of the country from 8/10-8/18. I'm planning on just asking the registrar's for my transcript as soon as they are posted.

Since we're talking about transcripts - how quickly does PTCAS update our application after they have received our transcripts?

I sent transcript requests to my undergrad school on 7/7, along with a check (there was a fee for an official transcript). The check was cashed on 7/14. I assume the transcript was sent to PTCAS around that time. But when I look at the status of my application in PTCAS today 7/21, it still shows "transcripts not received."

I have heard so many horror stories about PTCAS that I really don't get too many "warm fuzzy feelings" about that outfit...
