I am going to be taking my MCAT August 15th, so I am not going to be applying till around mid-September. When should I request my transcripts to be sent to ACOMAS?

After you put in your classes in the application.... I heard people send them even before that and they keep them on file....

As soon as you want to, now if you can. The earlier they are in the sooner they can be verified. Preferably after all your grades have been posted or you may need to send them again.

You will need to send transcripts again to schools were you get accepted before matriculating.

September seems a bit late for submitting your app.

Have you thought about submitting it earlier and having it already verified before you get your MCAT scores back?

Have you thought about trying to take the test earlier?

The longer you wait, the fewer spots that are left open, and more people competing for those fewer spots. You better have one awesome application with great scores and superior ECs if you hope to get an acceptance that late in the game.

I have seen way too many people on here not get an acceptance, their major reason cited is applying too late. It would be sad to hear that this becomes your story too...

I have a 3.3-3.4 GPA. Ucla grad. Good EC and LoR. I can't take the test earlier. I need the time to study for it. I am going to apply to one school to get my GPA verified. Then once my Mcat comes in ill apply to more schools.

First off, unless you have some constraint like you plan on not applying to ANY schools if you get a certain score, I would complete and submit your app now with the MCAT pending.

If you have above 3.0 GPAs, there's no reason for you not to submit your app now, in fact it will hurt you, because if you don't submit until mid-Sept, it will take you 5+ weeks to get verified. If you are applying regardless, pick 1 school and submit your app to them now. Then after your MCAT score comes in, submit to the remaining schools. This is in your best interest.

As far as submitting your transcripts go, you can submit them absolutely any time, as long as you have an AACOMAS ID number, which you have if you started the app. The only reason to delay sending in a transcript would be if you have classes whose grades haven't come out yet, and even then its only if you want to save the money associated with sending another set of transcripts later.

Anyone else?

Submit everything ASAP.

And hit yourself on the forehead for scheduling your MCAT so late.

However, I think that you will be fine as long as you apply broadly and smartly. At least getting your MCAT in September means you are still ahead of those who apply Oct-Nov-Dec-Jan, which is still quite a lot of people.

I didn't have a choice. I took 5 classes the last quarter at ucla in order to graduate. Plus doing research, volunteering and research doesn't leave me much room
To study. Thanks for the tips!

You have plenty of time to study, you can knock out your AACOMAS application in a weekend. Ask for LOR's immediately so that they are ready ASAP.

If you wait until September to apply, you won't be verified until October, possibly even later than that. With average stats you need to be getting schools your info ASAP.

You DO NOT need to have LOR's ready or MCAT scores by the time you submit your application. Those can be updated later on and you can let schools know that you plan to take the MCAT in august so they are aware.

Secondary applications have already begun, don't shoot yourself in the foot by waiting to apply.. just do it now.
