When to shoot for to be complete with secondaries?

I have A LOT of secondaries to finish. I am approx 1/2 way done with them (30 schools). It is taking a lot longer than expected and it feels like I am now considered "late" in this cycle. When should I aim to set the ULTIMATE deadline for myself (to have everything completed)?

Getting more and more stressed as the days go on by...

I'm in the same boat. I've heard late August is a healthy timeframe to be done by, and a couple weeks after that is OK but not early anymore. On SDN it seems like we should have been done 6 weeks ago with everything..

i also applied to ~30 schools, only done with 7, not going to apply to 6 schools, so i have about 17 left, i haven't heard from many schools tho, so i only have about 5 sec app to fill out at this time.

i am doing the best i can at this time, what with full time job and all. i wish i could get sec app from CA schools tho... i am hoping & praying 😳

I think you're in a good place, try to get finish the ones you want most by the end of August, and the rest mid-September. The longer you wait, the higher the probability that you'll get very late interviews (March/April), which isn't really helpful.

I don't know if there is a general timeline suggested or anything, but I once read a poster saying he would finish the secondaries even before applying (by getting the topics from SDN of course) and send them 2 weeks after he gets the secondary apps. So, if you applied as soon as the cycle opened in June, then probably around July the secondaries could have gone in.

What he did (or plans to do i don't know) does seem a bit extreme, but seeing that some people already have received an invitation for an interview, I would think that you're not really considered early at this point, but I don't think it's really late either, since applying around July (in which you will be finishing your secondaries around Aug) is still not considered that late.
Anyway, sorry if this information doesn't help you that much, but good luck anyway.
