when to specialize

Hi all,

Is there any disadvantage to work as a general dentist after graduation to earn some money and pay off debt and then trying to specialize? rather than specializing right out of school?

of course assuming i have grades and board scores necessary to specialize.

Good question. Im sure you could work as a associate for a couple years to pay some debt off. However are you sure you would want to come back to school after time off.
