When to start contacting programs I haven't heard from?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
i have the same question, i am thinking i will start contacting the programs by mid next week if i havent heard from them yet

Yeah I was going to start emailing programs next Wednesday.

Yeah, I heard from individuals who applied last year that some programs didn't even send notification of rejection, just kind of left them in the dark. For that reason alone I am going to start contacting programs next week. I'd like to know at this point as dates fill up whether I am going to be flat-out rejected or I will be on some kind of wait list in case dates open up.

How were you planning on contacting programs, just e-mailing or calling, or trying to submit something through ERAS?

I am going to start with emails to coordinators.

I emailed a whole bunch of programs (by that I mean the coordinators) this morning. Many did not respond, but few responded quite quickly stating either that they will pass on my interest to the committee reviewing applications or that my application is on hold and they've offered all of their inteview spots (in which case the PCs told me that the PD will look at applications if people start canceling interviews). I also got a few rejections and so I thought that the time to contact programs is now.

what are you guys writing in the email?
i am just writing that i am interested in the program and asked about the status of my apps.
you guys think that is ok and enough?

I think that's ok. I write that I'm interested in their program and would love an opportunity to interview for a spot. Still, I think that it cannot hurt and programs like applicants to be interested.

after i sent out the emails, i have received one official rejection. i guess that is better than sitting in the dark and waiting.

I just sent out an email to a program I am really, really dying to hear from.

I kind of just wish they'd put me out of my misery already. If they are going to reject me, do it now so I don't keep wondering.

Anyone else feel like this whole process is just really damaging to your psyche?

Dude, unfortunately that's the way it is. Many programs will not contact you in any way if in fact they don't offer you an IV. Therefore, unless you call or email every program you applied to and ask your status, you might never know... well, I guess you'll know that you will not get an IV invite if it's february and you haven't heard from them. Still, yes it's difficult to sit and wait and check your email constantly. Sometimes, I also would rather that they just reject me if in fact that's what they're planning to do rather than keep me guessing.

Yep. I wonder though, the programs I have not heard from yet but my friends have rejections, does that mean I'm on their waiting list or they just haven't gotten around to sending my rejection letter yet?

anyone know how programs review the apps, is it by alphabetical order, date applied, etc?
