So after I get my transcript verified and the letters mailed in, my AADSAS application is considered complete right?
After submitting the AADSAS applications to the schools, am i supposed to wait until the school notifies me that I need to fill out their secondary application or do I need to just send one in anyways?

Thanks

The answer to your question varies from school to school.

Some school want you to submit the secondary right away, and other schools want you to wait until they specifically request it.

Best to contact each school individually or visit their website to understand their policy.

There's a PDF file on the AADSAS website about secondaries. It lists the secondary materials requested by each school and when to submit them. Does anyone know if this file is for the cycle starting June 3rd, or the one that just ended?

I would imagine that it applies to this year, and last year.

I was under the impression that it's either of two cases:

1) Submit secondary immediately with primary application.

2) Submit the secondary when prompted by the school.

Can you provide a link to this PDF/web page on AADSAS?

Thanks so much for the link!

Seeing that there are varying dates, I would think that this list best applies to last year's cycle, but it can be used as a rough estimate for this year's upcoming cycle.

When they send the Official DAT scores and the money, do we just send them these in envelopes? Don't the DAT scores get automatically sent to the school through AADSAS?

No, DAT scores are not sent trough AADSAS! Although you can type your DAT scores in your AADSAS application, these scores are NOT official.

DAT scores are sent from the ADA; you must log on to the ADA site with your DENTPIN to designate where/which schools you want to send your scores to.

Keep in mind, it's $25 to send your DAT scores to each school. This does not include the school-specific application fee.

what about the application fees? do we pay online or send a check?

and whats the purpose of this 2x2 photo that some schools require lol

Which application fees? For secondaries, some schools ask you to send a check in the mail, and some will let you pay online at the same time you fill their secondary out. Varies from school to school.

Secondaries are also different for each school; some require essays, while some are essentially requests for more money (fill in your name, gender, ethnicity, etc.). I suppose this allows them to publish their pool stats though.

As for the 2x2 photo, I believe it's pretty much so they can judge you. I can't think of another reason. People say it "puts a face with the stats," but if everybody has to do it, I don't think it really helps. Still, do it. You can print a bunch of these out for cheap at your local Walgreens or Fred Meyer's photo station after taking one with a digital camera.

Thanks! Sigh, more things that can potentially delay your app...

Oh, and when they say SAME TIME, is that after your app is complete and verified?

AADSAS has a separate page in the portal that list all the schools to which your application was sent to. In that page, each individual school has a link that you click on and all the information you need about secondaries, mailing address, phone numbers, and email addresses are present in that page.

Mail at the same time: Secondary application (if applicable) and fees are to be mailed when AADSAS mails your application. Ideally you would want the AADSAS application to arrive at the school before your check. But I'm sure if your check arrives at the admissions office before the application, they will hold the check and wait for your AADSAS application to arrive.

When the school contacts you: Wait until the school emails you notifying that they have received your AADSAS application and now need the required secondary fee. That's when you mail the fee.

Schools are notorious for misplacing checks and DAT score reports. WRITE DOWN YOUR AADSAS ID on EVERY check that is sent out. Double check that you signed it, it is made in the correct amount, the pay to is correct and the address you mail the check is written properly on the envelope.
