When to start turning away interviews?

I have 15 interviews scheduled and keep getting more offers that don't have any times or dates that work for me. Should I decline them if they arent a program I see myself wanting to go to?

If you don't see yourself at "x" program, then I would respectfully thank the program for there consideration and decline the interview invite to allow them to fill the spot now with someone else who might want to attend that program.

If you're a US grad 15 is probably ten more than you actually need. If I were you I would cancel or decline interviews that aren't desirable at this point.

During this application season, if you are a reasonably decent candidate, I would limit the number of residency interviews to around 10-12 maximum. If money and time are no object, then by all means go to every single one. I went to 15 when I interviewed and that was way overkill.

Before you start canceling interviews, make sure your portfolio of programs is diversified. That is, make sure you have a good mix of dream schools, middle of the road, and backups. Don't cancel interviews if all you have is 15 dream schools on your list. Good luck, sounds like you are doing well and will probably match.

I have 18 now and I don't think any of them are reach programs. Is like to stay around 15-16 if possible. That sounds reasonable right?

That is way too many. Why would you want to go to that many interviews? And none of them are reach programs? Interview fatigue is very real. I would recommend cutting the list down further.

That's the right way to think.

There's no harm in going to a program you are not enthusiastic about if you don't have to travel far to get to it.

But unless you are sure you'd want to go there, don't buy a plane ticket or travel more than an hour to get there if you already have >10 interviews.
