I can submit my AMCAS on June 1 with my transcript sent well before, or I can wait until I finish first session summer courses, when my transcript would get there around June 25. The difference in my science GPA would be from a 3.57 to a 3.61 (ish). Yeah, it's anal, but I have to pick one or the other anyway, so I may as well have some logic behind it. Does it really matter if you don't get the AMCAS done till early/mid July (giving lag time for transcript processing)?

i would just turn in the AMCAS in early june....if the 0.04 GPA points makes a difference, you can always send update letters/transcripts to whichever schools you want to send them to...

On the other hand, if you do decide to wait to submit your AMCAS, early/mid July is still relatively early in the application process. Just make sure you're on top of your secondaries.

I agree. I didn't get my stuff submitted until the end of June and I still received my secondaries at the same time that the early birds did. Remember, they don't come out until the second week of July (and AMCAS only takes about 2 weeks to process most apps - well, it seemed like it last year).

Just make sure you do it in June and it won't matter one bit.

Everyone here is right in ref to when you turn in AMCAS. Anytime before July is more than fine. Everything verifies quickly before the huge clog up as you get to the end of July. The hold up can be the transcript. They will not verify till all your transcripts are there. People have had problem in the past with lost/misplaced transcripts (one school for me just didn't send it out - forgot). Now, this might not happen, but then again it might. So if you can get your transcripts in as early as possible, you have more time to deal with this.

A small GPA diff won't be a huge factor in getting/not getting an interview. And when you go for an interview, you can usually update with coursework.

something to think about.

I too agree with getting your AMCAS in by July. You should make sure of the supporting documents like your transcripts. You want to have your AMCAS complete and verified in the Summer so you can get your secondaries early and possibly interviewed early.

What if you are taking the August MCAT? Does it hurt your application that much?
