Here's the dealie-doo: I've already taken the PCAT, got an 84 composite on it. My GPA, however, sucks harder than a 4-barrel carburetor, so I need better than an 84. I just took the August PCAT, and won't get my score until the beginning of october. But I don't want to wait that long to submit! Is there anyway for schools to start reviewing my application now upon submission, and still take into account my other score in the beginning of oct? I don't know how long it takes adcoms to go through an application and decide who is getting an interview, so I'm just freaking out. I'm worried that if I submit now, they're going to just look at my one PCAT grade and use that right away without taking into account my upcoming grade. And that if I submit in october, I'll be losing out on having the advantage of an early application...

BLARGH! This is so frustrating...it's more of a rant, because I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this question. What would YOU do?

84 on the PCAT is a competitive score, well, depending on your school of choice, but in general it's a good score.

Since we dont know what your GPA is though, we can't really give you an answer. For all we know you might have a 2.0 or even a 3.5.

Saying my GPA is like certain women admitting their weight or age, I just feel very uncomfortable. But if you have to ask, it's a 2.8. Therefore, to definitely have a shot, I need to have a PCAT in the 90's.

What I wouldn't give for a time machine about now...

I'd submit it now. An 84 is pretty good, and if it's not good enough, then the adcoms will wait to see your recent PCAT (as long as you said that you took it in the PharmCAS application). You may have a low gpa, but take into account other parts of your application. The more pharm experience, extracurriculars, etc. the better.

it won't hurt to apply now. If you don't get in, at least you know that you will have to retake some classes. For now, just apply to a few that you feel you have a realistic chance of getting in. You never know whats going to happen.

Your 2.8 is low but your PCAT score made up for what you lack in GPA.

If you do your research and apply to the appropriate schools, your 80+ PCAT scores (assuming you got above 70s in quantitative, biology, and chemistry subsections) will get you an interview.

In my opinion, trying to take PCAT again is a good idea but a superfluous one

If I were you, I apply immediately.🙂

I'll give you some of my GPA if you give me some of your PCAT. Then we will have no worries. DEAL!
