I am a newbie to the site as of today. I find it very helpful. I am a pre dental student from Arizona. I have currently completed my inorganic chem and i am half done with the O Chem. I have taken BIO 181 and 201 as well as PHY 111 and Calc. After this next semester i will have completed BIOs 181, 182, and 201 as well as CHMs 151, 152, 235, 236 and PHY 111 and MAT 220. I plan on taking the Kaplan course and hitting the DAT this summer upon Kaplan completion. I really need some good direction on how to prepare and if this is a good time. I will not have completed courses such as Bio chem.. is this a problem? I have received great notes, all As in all science classes thus far. Thanks for the help!

There are literally hundreds on threads on how to prepare for the DAT. Simply use the search feature. If you're too lazy here's a list of what most people use: Kaplan BB, Topscore, DAT Destroyer, Cliff's AP Bio, Crack the PAT.

And it's okay if you don't complete Biochemistry, the DAT science sections only cover lower level bio, chem, and orgo.

Are you going to NAU? Sounds like the same course numbers I had.🙄 I would at least familiarize myself with the ADA scope of examination for the DAT. You've got your science classes covered for the test. Use it or you lose it! I didn't touch any of that stuff for three years since graduating, so needless to say I had to start from scratch. I've been studying for two months anywhere from 2-8 hours a day ( I work full-time). People seem to think there is a magical way to study and get an awesome score. Nope. It just takes discipline. There've been days where I feel good about what I've studied, and there are days where I get destroyed. But use that to improve. Also, plan on exposing yourself to your materials everyday, unless you absolutely need a day to relax, and yes that is allowed. Repitition is the mother of all skill. One more thing, I was planning on taking the Kaplan course, but that would've required me to move to PHX. I have a good job, and bills to pay, so not the best option for me, but definately an option. I scoured the forum to see what peoples thoughts were. Most said that it was a waste of $$ and they could've done the same or better on their own. Instead, I've used my funds for DAT destroyer package, Cliff's AP BIO, DAT Achiever, and soon will be purchasing CrackDAT series, and Topscore. May is my deadline for DAT. Enough time to prep properly, and good enough to apply early. Start now, get some ass glue, expect to lose battles, but win the war. Good luck!😎
