When to take DAT

just start to study for DAT and trying to get in for this coming cycle. i know it's a bit late but still want to give it a try. my question is when would be the latest time to take DAT if i want to apply this year? if i take DAT in late June, do i still have any chance? thanks for your input in advance!

ADDSAS already closed last month. Taking in June would be perfect for class of 2018 but not for class of 2017, which in essence you would start this fall. 90% of dental school seats are pretty much booked by March anyways. It would just be impossible to take your DATs in June and try to get in for this fall. ADDSAS actually reopens for students to submit there stuff on June 3rd for the new cycle. Don't rush into my friend. I also want to start this fall but I have to retake my exam and God willing nail it and start dental school fall of 2014. You will get in but you just have to be patient. I'm sorry if I said anything rude but it's impossible to take the exam in June and start this fall, it's beyond late.

For 2014? Applications open in June this year and close in December, so I'd say you need to do it before October. You should contact schools you're thinking of applying to in order to make sure.

but the admission is rolling and the school sends out interview invitations and interviews candidate much early than December, right? so for me to have a fair chance, when should i take the DAT? i know it would be better before may, but considering i just start the studying. will it have a big difference to take the DAT, say at the end of May, or at the end of June, or July?

If you're confident in your background science knowledge you only really need 6-8 weeks of solid studying.

I'm sorry I misunderstood you. I say have everything in June, and if you have to take your DATs and haven't taken it by then mid July or end of July to have a very good chance. The longer you wait the less of a chance you have. My friend took his exam August 24th and didn't get an interview till January. He was put on a waiting list and finally got accepted like beginning of Feb of this year. Good chance I say you take it before August.
