When to take Step 2 CK?

Does anyone have any advice on when to take Step 2 CK if I'm planning ophtho?

Step 1 = 250s, at a US MD school. Not sure if I need to take it for the app, or just wait until after. Thanks

Take it after your application is submitted but before 1st interview. That way you can have it with you on interviews if you did better.
