Hi all,
I'm an MS-3 who's mulling over my options. My Step 1 score was 10 points below the average and I'm contemplating taking the Step 2 early. I was thinking of taking it as early as June (end of 3rd year/beginning of 4th year).

The reason I want to take it early is that I'm interested in an early-match residency and would like my scores available for those interviews. I'll be done with all my core rotations except Neurology. Is it possible to prepare for the Step 2 Neuro questions without having completed the Neuro rotation, using review materials/Kaplan/etc?

Any advice? Thanks!

yes. you can definately take step 2 before your neuro course. make sure you can arrange some time to study for step 2 and take them as early as you can. in the meantime i would urge you to try to do as well as possible this year in all your clerkships. obviously this year is important but it will make studying for step 2 that much easier.
