Hi, I'm new to the forum and this year ophthalmology is working on the same timeline as last year. I have an ok step 1 but definitely could benefit from a great step 2 score. I am currently trying to get some work published with my home department and need advice for how I should tackle step 2 timeline. Should I focus on the publication and trying to put a great impression on my rotation? OR should I try focusing on taking step 2 now?
one way I look at this is how late do I need to have my step 2 out before programs start offering interviews? I understand every program is going to have their own deadlines but any PD's insight for general rule of thumb would be really appreciated. Since Ophtho runs an early timeline and we are on this pandemic state, it's kind of hard to gauge what to predict. I appreciate all of your insights
