Hello...Just wanted to get any of your opinions or advice on this matter. I have heard from some path residents that once you enter the field of pathology alot of the clinical side of medicine (management of the patient, pharmacotherapy, essentially impt knowledge for Step 3) is lost. Any ideas when is the best time to take step 3 once entering a path residency? It seems like once you get into the path residency alot of your time is devoted to reading to learn for the residency--doesnt seem like one will have time to dedicate to studying for step 3. As other residencies have a transitional year, path doesn't--so those who have this transitional yr do not have to usually study for Step 3.

Take it ASAP. As residency goes on you become less and less interested in this pathetic excuse for a test and it starts to become annoying because you have to study for it instead of reading path. 😡
