when to take step 3?

hi

im a spankin-brand new im intern and was wondering when was the best time to take step 3...do most ppl wait until 2nd yr? i would think that 2nd yr is a little tougher b/c u have more responsibilities etc...plus i would like to apply for an allergy-immunology fellowship 2nd yr so, so i would rather finish off step 3 now...just wondering what folks were doing...thanks!

You might see what people in your program usually take it.

In my state, we have to pass step 3 to be licensed and we have to be licensed to move on to our PGY2 year of residency, so nobody is able to put it off even if they want to.

Same here, with a few very special exceptions.
