When to take the DAT?

Hello,

I am just starting the process of applying to dental school. I want advice on when is the best time to take the DAT since I am trying to apply in the next cycle. Is Spring 2019 the optimal time to take it giving a few extra months to retake if necessary?

I would really appreciate any help!

I would say pick a date that will allow you to have the most studying time. I took mine at the end of May, because I had a light spring semester and only one summer class, so I had a lot of time to study. You don't have to pick a date super close to when you apply, if you have the most time to study for example during Winter break, then I would take it then. It all depends on your schedule and how much studying you want to do. Best of luck!

The best advice I can give students is, Do not take the DAT until you are fully prepared. Don't even think retake, think Destroy the DAT first time, and that is possible with proper preparation. If you are prepared Spring 2019 take the DAT, but if in doubt always reschedule. We all have intuition, you will know.
