when to take the DAT?

hi everyone-
I'm currently a sophomore, planning on applying in the 2010 cycle (so, sending applications in mid-2009). when should i plan on taking the DAT? I want to have time to study but also have some wiggle room to retake the test in case i don't do as well as i'd like.

When you have sufficient time. I wish I took the DAT end of my sophomore year.

If you can discipline yourself to study over the summer it is nice to take it in like August before the next school year starts so you can study all summer and finish before your class start again...

Try to take it as close as possible to when you are finished with Organic. It is much easier to review that material when you just finished the course.

Make sure that you have enough time to prepare for it. It might be helpful to take an anatomy & physiology class before taking the DAT. Some people take it over their winter break and others do it over spring break so that they have enough time for a re-take. It might be a challenge difficult to juggle studying for classes and preparing for the exam if you decide to do it during the semester. I would recommend taking it a month into your summer break which would possible allow for a re-take before things get hectic once school starts.
