I suppose many people would rather live in a city full of skyscrapers where you have to rent a 400 square foot studio apartment for $2000 a month and where you have to pay to park your car (if you can afford one after your rent)...
Mesa is a "sprawling" bedroom community, but there are still plenty of things to do here. Phoenix and Scottsdale are about 30 minutes away and anyone in my class looking for a nightlife has seemed to find it.
