When Will I Get Interview Offers?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I submitted Sept 1st early in the day.

Just curious when I should start checking for offers.

Thank you in advance.
Really depends on the competitiveness of the program and your application. I received several interviews the first week and most within two months.

Some programs wait for the dean's letter.

Thank you for the replies!

Just curious if anyone out there has any offers yet and for which field.

Also curious if I need to check my email on weekends for offers or if they exclusively come during the week.

Well if you are like me you will check on weekends just in case. 🙂

But no, no interview invitations yes for me--just acknowledgments of receipt.

Ok, so the holiday weekend is over.

No offers this morning (no rejections either).

Is this most people's experience right now, or should I be concerned that I have not heard anything from any program?

It's the fourth business day after you were able to submit your application. Folks who've heard anything yet are in the minority.

You may not hear for another week or more. Some programs won't invite anyone until the Deans letters are sent out weeks from now.

If med school was half as stressful as SDN, I'd be a basket case by now...

Also, check out the threads for your specialty - many get one going on interview offers, so you can see what other SDNers have heard. On the same note you can also search for prior year's threads and see when the programs that you are interested in started making offers.

They (those horrible programs that don't like us) will send rejection letters to our in box on ERAS? Does ERAS send us an email when we have messages waiting? Does anyone know if we are invited to interview, how long they usually give us to set the date/interview. Like do we have 2-4 weeks? Thanks! 🙂

Schools contact you via the email address you have listed in ERAS. That message is also kept in message center in ERAS.

I also submitted on September 1st, and I also was waiting anxiously after the holiday weekend, and I also continue not to hear a peep.

I think this is program and specialty dependent. Nevertheless goodluck to all of us applying!

Very true. The overwhelming majority (20 of 24) programs I applied to didn't send out invitations last year until October. The waiting game begins ... 😎

So far zero out of 21 programs (Pathology) have sent out as much as an acknowledgement letter, let alone an interview request. One administrator told me that they aren't even touching ERAS for another 2 weeks. Joy.........

I got my first invite today for Internal Med. 🙂

submitted 9/1, got first interview 9/2 and strategically scheduled said interview for early December...oh the waiting...am I my own worst enemy or what?🙄

Received 2 today.

Rachmoninov ... what do you mean? One of my options is pretty much Oct - Nov. time frame ... if I could do them in December, I SOOO would.

It would help if you guys would say what you're going into so we can see which specialties are giving interviews- thanks.

Specialty: Family Medicine
Interview is from a program associated with my home university.

As for scheduling in December, I've got easy rotations from mid-october to mid-december for interviews. This particular interview is my top choice right now, so to be fair to myself and see as many other programs as possible, plus have the most interview experience, I'm putting it last during my interview-athon. Also, this particular program interviews from Nov through Jan, so I'm also right in the middle.

:luck::xf:Pre-allo deja vu:xf::luck:

Received invite from program not very high on my list. Scheduled for earliest interview slot so I can practice. Talk about an expensive training session...

Second interview today - PM&R @ Wayne State University.

Still waiting (sort of) patiently...

I'm pretty much resigned that nothing more will come in until late October.

Still waiting too and not patiently at all! 😡

When I was applying (lo these many years ago), I too applied on 9/1. I received my first offer on 9/4 and my last offer on 1/20.

Wait a second! if you get your offer on 1/20, when were you supposed to interview ???!!!!

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand still waiting 😴

I guess salsa dancers have to wait for interviews..

you know what that means..back to the dance floor fellow Salsera......

As they were saying, it's specialty and program dependant. More specifically, YOUR qualifications vs. the program's expectations.

I'm doing family med. I applied on 9/1, got my first 3 interviews two days later. It's now the 20th, and I have all BUT 3 left to schedule, and they aren't the big-name ones either.

Have patience.... especially if you're not very strong for your specialty choice. It'll come.

as of today I have four invites for FM.
🙂
