I am an international student with:

cGPA: 3.12
sGPA: 3.03
post-bacc Master's GPA: 3.8-4.0 (18 credits)

(can click on my predent for more details)

I am missing all my english and physics prereqs and will be taking them in the summer. They are 5-week courses so the Eng/Phy I grades will be out in the middle of July while the Eng/Phy II grades will be out in late August.

I am really banking on NYU or BU for this cycle and want to get early consideration.

I know that it takes forever for AADSAS to process transcripts so I will be looking at mid august and early october for the applications to get to Dental School? Takes about 5 weeks or more, I would imagine, for the whole process of transcripts getting looked at by AADSAS and then them sending the items to dental schools!! This is so very late!!! This seems very bad for me since i have low undergrad GPA as well as am an international student!

However, although BU allows you to take pre-reqs before matriculation, NYU says that "Students with any incomplete and/or pending science requirements will be at a disadvantage when their applications are reviewed" They also told me that I should have my prereqs finished before I apply.

So, if you were in my shoes, would you submit your application after the first set of grades are out (receive in august) and risk getting rejected early by NYU or when all sets of grades are out (receive in october)?

That may be true for BU, but I don't believe that is true for most schools. You are fine if you've completed all but 1-2 pre reqs when applying. I've always told people that if there's a prereq that some schools require but others don't (Anatomy, Microbiology, Orgo II, Sociology), that they can wait to see where they're accepted on December 1st, and then take Spring Semester courses based on where they're accepted. For example, if a student would rather not take Anatomy, and then they got into Howard or Ohio State, they would need to take Anatomy for the Spring Semester. If they got rejected from Howard and Ohio State, they wouldn't take Anatomy, or if they got waitlisted than they can decide based on what other schools they did or didn't get into. Make sense?

If you must, apply to all your other schools in July and then submit for BU in August. But I would guess that your application being late affects you more than not having taken 1 prereq yet, as long as you take that prereq before you matriculate.

Plus your DAT is all 0's, you might want to consider a retake 😉

well, all the schools i've looked at so far require a full year+ of english and a full year of physics, so it is hard to avoid :scared:, well the physics part at least.

I also HAVE to take physics I because i got a D on the first semester of physics back in 2003 -______- so the earliest for me to request transcripts is middle of July.

Oh I am currently studying for the DAT. I have a strong science background and am usually good at taking tests, so I am estimating a 21 at least :xf:

Does this mean that you can submit one round, wait a month to receive transcripts, and then use new transcript information to submit to another cycle of schools? I thought you have to submit to all schools all at once?

Why not submit the Apps in July and then update when you finish summer school in August?

I will have my app out in early June and plan on updating it after I finish a couple of classes through the summer.

I was not aware that you could update your marks after you send out your app. I know there is an academic update, but that is in the middle of November, isnt it?

Or do you mean sending new transcripts to the DS that you applied to?

I should have also put another option there,

to not take summer courses and focus on the DAT instead of 4 classes + DAT. Then submit anyways with:

BIO1: C- (but i am pulling all A's in graduate biology)
BIO2: A
CHEM1: B+
CHEM2: A
OCHEM1: B
OCHEM2: C
PHYS1: D

missing english 1/2 and physics 2, but will take all during the fall semester and hope that the D is not a big deal since it is from 2003 and the other 3/10 missing prereqs are not that big of an issue!
