When you finish your residency, will you move across state lines to avoid the in

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I live in Washington state...and we have no state income tax...however this is balanced by ~10% sales tax and ridiculous property taxes. Believe me, they will get you somehow.

The only way to avoid some of this is by living AK...no state income tax or sales tax, and you get paid to live there (AK PFD)...but then again it is Alaska...

They can't tax you if you live in the sky. I'm going to run my practice from a hot air balloon.

And I'm going to Summer in Oz.

I'd think people are more likely to move based on their state's malpractice laws.

NYC or Philly or in the great state in-between

people on SDN really look ahead into the future

Texas is good for that too.

However we have one of the highest rates of unisureds in the country, so if you like getting paid for what you do...Yes, we have a lower cost of living, but we make less money.

New Hampshire, South Dakota, Florida, Nevada, Alaska, Wyoming, and Washington all have no state income tax. Texas does have high property taxes, and corporations (even some partnerships) get taxed, so don't think there's an overall net savings. 😉
