My gf and I and some friends went to a bar. I drank and sang desperado by the eagles... It was karaoke night and my gf has a video phone... No bueno
Got in at midnight on February 1st (match day for Texas applicants). There was uncertainty to when the match was actually going to come out, it had come out at midnight last year but usually gets posted at 8AM. I had told myself I wasn't going to check until 8AM. I was on Skype with my SO and at 12:05am I decided to check SDN to see if anyone had said anything. Nothing of any significance was posted on the match thread so I checked the UTMB thread and saw that someone had received an acceptance email at midnight. Well, my phone didn't buzz so I figured I wasn't getting an email. Hear the buzz 10 seconds later, didn't believe it. The best part was my best friend (who I've been in school with for 17 years) called me right after I got my email saying he got into UTMB as well. Told my SO, called my parents and woke them up, didn't sleep at all that night because I still couldn't believe it, quit my job the next day, and bought Skyrim. I haven't been this relaxed since before I started studying for the MCAT. I had aunts/uncles texting me throughout the day to congratulate me/telling me to get drunk. Funniest conversations ever.
Finally!
reading these - i feel like im in their shoes, i keep getting goosebumps ;p
Congrats to everyone, these stories are awesome! I finally have one too...
This was my second application cycle and I just got back from an interview at one of my state schools. The interview didn't go particularly well, so I was kinda bumming. I changed out of my suit and was putting it back into the suit bag when my dad knocked on the door. He asked if I was ready to head to dinner to celebrate being done with the interview. I grabbed my phone, keys, etc to head out the door. This is when I checked my phone to see a subject line from another school, my first choice and a school that rejected me last year. My heart sank and it totally caught me off guard -- this school usually sends emails on Fridays and it was a Monday. I opened the email and the first line of text was a huge "You're In!". I immediately burst into tears (can't remember the last time I cried) and read maybe two more lines before falling onto my bed in an effort to comprehend everything, ha. The feeling of relief was greater than I ever expected.
Still chokes me up when I recount the story. Best. Day. Ever.
This one girl that I know received her acceptance letter and made a video of her showing the closed letter to the camera, commenting on how "heavy it is" and opening it and reading it while squealing and jumping up and down. She then posted it on facebook, posted a closeup picture of the letter with her name on it, and then another of her holding it and made that one her facebook profile picture... oh and she also posted the video of her opening it into the news feed about four times.
Is her name Ashley, by any chance?

I said "great!", updated my spreadsheet, and told my fiance.
It was pretty mellow.
Gotta keep that spreadsheet updated. 👍
Hahaha I have a spreadsheet too; I even have a bar chart for applied, secondaries, interviews, acceptances.
I was in Las Vegas for an interview at a DO back up school which was at 12:30pm, I got the acceptance email from my top choice at 7:30 am. I woke my boyfriend up and said let's go rock climbing today and he thought I was crazy and wanted to get a couple hours in at red rocks before my interview. Then he realized that I wasn't going to my interview. We started drinking at the casino at 8:00 am and then went shopping for a univ of Florida t-shirt in Vegas ( a 4 hour ordeal) and texted a pic of me in the tee with the words "it's official" to everyone back home.... Then of course we went rock climbing and proceeded to party like rock stars in Vegas . Best day ever!
I'm glad you got in, but did you at least do the school the courtesy of telling them you couldn't make it to the interview? Seems really lame to just blow them off like that.
I called them, seems even lamer to waste their time if you ask me.
Sometimes you just have to let off a load.i pooped
Everybody has a spreadsheet. Bitches love spreadsheets.
I got my acceptance call in mid October, but I might as well add my story.
I remember that the first MD school I interviewed at would start calling on October 16, but I wasn't sure if my application would be reviewed in time for the first wave of acceptances. I had interviewed in late September, so I was hopeful, but wasn't expecting to hear anything in October. On the 16th of October, I was literally checking my phone and twitter (the admissions office have a twitter account) every 5 minutes, even though I had given the office my home phone number. I was kind of bummed out that day since I didn't hear anything and tried to keep thinking about when they would get to my application. The next day when I woke up, I checked Twitter and saw that they had reviewed most applications from my interview date. I just laid in bed a while since I didn't have work that day, and when I got up to get breakfast, I noticed that there was a message on my answering machine. It was the dean of admissions asking me to call her back! I knew that it was an acceptance, and I was so excited! I started screaming and jumping up and down, and then called my brother and texted my SO about it. I was just ecstatic that entire day, and I'm still really happy about it. 🙂
soo happy for you!
My heart stopped beating when I saw the an unknown number calling. And then when the Dean introduced himself, I just started crying out of nowhere. And he was like, "it's okay. Everyone cries when I call them." Best day ever!
