I'm a third year undergrad and was wondering when is a good time to start studying for the pcats? and how many times should i take it?

Well when do you plan to apply, most schools require applications 6-8 months before the entering semester. Research the schools you want and go from there.

Use the search function...there's a lot of threads around with this info on it with some good advice. I use it everyday to answer my PCAT questions...very useful. Basically, it's all up to you and how much you know. How many times you take it depends on when you are happy with your score!

^ I agree. How much studying depends on the person. Some people only study for a week or two and can score high. Some the day before, others months ahead. You study as much as you need until you feel confident about the material. There's really no set timetable.

As for how many times to take it, take it one at a time. Only focus on the first one and not look ahead about taking it a 2nd or 3rd time. Take it, wait to see how you did, then decide if you would like to take it again. But it's a bad mindframe to think about taking it more than once when you haven't taken it once yet.

If you are planning on taking the PCATs in the next few months, I would say that now is a good time to start studying! Some people might not need that much review, but it can't hurt. I found that if I reviewed the material at least once a week, I had good recall even if I had done the hard core studying a couple of months before. Ideally I think you should only take the PCAT once, preferably in the year that you start your applications. It is not so much fun that you want to repeat it.
