Where are the job postings?

I'm not to this point yet, but there's something that's been bothering and maybe the rest of y'all have insight. It seems like when you look at the websites for places like Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and St.Jude's, there are all sorts of jobs posted for nurses, technologists, etc., but no physician opportunities. If you go to the website of the university connected with it, you sometimes find job postings, but a lot of times they're not there either. The openings at big academic centers also don't tend to be listed in the pediatric journals or on physician recruitment databases. So, how are openings at those places advertised? I'm still a couple years away, but I'm a tad curious...

Academic centers? Usually word of mouth. I have gotten some advertisements though from recruitment databases at for some academic centers. But for the most part, these centers tend to "hire from the inside" which means more likely than not they were fellows who graduated from their respective programs.

I signed up for some recruitment databases during residency, and I still get flooded with job opportunities from e-mail. When you near the end of residency, no worries, the opportunities will abound... although perhaps not in a geographical place to your liking.
