I have been considering careers lately and have thought about perhaps working in a rehabilitation center as an interesting option. When looking at these centers, I was suprised to see that most of them were being run by FP! Why? Isn't a physiatrist much more qualified to work in these centers? Why are the hospitals hiring FPs? Where are all the PM&R docs working? I never see any recruitment ads for them down in the southeast? Is it hard to find a job?
Many PM&R docs are in larger cities and academic centers. There are opportunities in the southeast. Here's a sample from the AAPM&R website:
