It's been seven (plus) weeks since I took Step 3 and my score have STILL not been released. The song and dance I've been getting is that they changed software in October, hence no one that took the test then has received their results. At first I was told 4-6 weeks, then 6-8... now I'm being told 8-10 or MORE!

I'm sorry, but that just sounds like a load of you-know-what. It's computerized. How long does it take to do an analysis? Most computerized exams spit out your pass/fail 5 minutes after you finish the exam. Why does it take even longer for the USMLE? It even takes longer than it used to when it was a pencil and paper exam.

Thanks for letting me vent... I'm completely p.o.'ed and have absolutely no recourse. Yes, I'm used to that with my residency, but it doesn't make things any easier.

Anyone else in the same boat?

this year has been a truly horrible year for USMLE examination results indeed, and it is very unfortunate that there is no explanation whatsoever for what is going on. As I understand, you used the FRED software, as opposed to the prometric software. I am taking step III in a matter of the next several weeks, can you please inform me if there was any change in the question styles, as opposed to the standardized USMLE review materials..I mean other than the material that we use and already have, which is more or less on target, there really is no other way to prepare for these examinations. Did you feel that the questions with this new FRED formatted software took you by surprise, or were the questions still doable - in other words at least correlating well somewhat with the material in which you had prepared with.
Did you feel any of these new 'changes' were worthwhile, in other words, this highlighting and blanking out, which in my opinion is a HUGE waste of time and valuable energy for us, I mean what if I highlight a distractor, or white out crucial information, and then get confused trying to figure out how to reverse what I have done, and then start all over, what a terrible waste of time that would be. They should at least add more time that we are allotted within each block, along with these worthless changes that have been made in my opinion. Then there is this thing where you write next to the questions, oh man, the scores will definitely not improve, this new stuff will most definitely not benefit any future USMLE taker in the future thats for sure. By the way, I practiced it with the USMLE CD that I received with my registration information with my previous steps, they had the Step III sample on there with the FRED software.
I feel youre pain, sorry to hear about youre situation, youre input would be highly appreciated.
