having a crisis tonight....can anyone give a website where I can find valid reliable information? Especially looking for information on concussions in small dogs. Thanks!

If your dog has sustained head trauma, please take it to a vet ASAP. No amount of information online will be able to tell you how to adequately treat your dog.

Here is a site with veterinary information, aimed at lay-people:
http://www.veterinarypartner.com/

Here is a site with veterinary information, aimed at vets/vet students:
http://www.vin.com (membership required but free to students)

You could also try general research sites such as PubMed and Google scholar.

They are hyacinth macaws - Anodorhyncus hyacinthinus. Very expensive (~$8k-10k) and long-lived, too. In the wild their diet consists almost entirely of palm nuts, and in captivity their pelleted diet should be supplemented with similar nuts (like macadamia nuts - really expensive). They are known for being gentle in demeanor, but can still do a lot of damage with those enormous beaks. People tend to baby them too much when they are young (scared of those beaks or maybe just handling them as costly property) so that they end up being terrors. Of course, not *all* are terrors. 🙂

That colour is considered cobalt in some other species, and is much sought after (example is the cobalt blue budgerigar or the cobalt blue Indian Ringneck).

that is expensive for a bird!

haha i can see where they might be a little scary if they got a mind to cause trouble..... *pictures opening a closet and having 5 big cobalt blue macaws spontaneously flapping out while squawking*
