Ok, I'm not sure if it's too early to do this, but out of curiousity, where did you apply to vet school this year?

For me, I applied to:

Washington
Oregon
Colorado
Wisconsin

My top choice currently is Oregon, but I'd be happy with anything! Next would *probably* be Wisconsin. So...where did you apply?

North Carolina State
Kansas State
Oklahoma State
Colorado State

I applied to:

Louisiana State
Oklahoma State
Missouri
Iowa State
Kansas State
Minnesota
Wisconsin

whew, I think that's it...I really don't have a clear top choice...

I applied to:
K-State
Iowa State
Missouri
Minnesota

Oklahoma
Iowa
Mississippi
Florida
Ohio

Now it's paranoia until Feb-March; let the fingernail biting begin

Minnesota
Iowa
Wisconsin
Ohio
Colorado

Minnesota is my top choice since that is my state school.

Tufts, North Carolina, Kansas, Oregon, Washington, Missouri, Colorado, Wisconsin, Purdue, Illinois, Minnesota, Auburn and Louisiana.

I know I've read here that you should apply to maybe 4 or 5, and I hope the number of schools I did won't hurt me (other than my wallet!) but I would've continued to second-guess myself if I wasn't trying for everything I can.

Is anyone applying to Tuskegee?

Not that this is relevant at all, but i applied to

Royal Veterinary College, London
Bristol Uni
Liverpool
Glasgow

And...... I have an interview at RVC (my first choice!!) on 23 November!
yey!

Excited yet terrified.

UPenn

the waiting has to be getting all of us. i know its getting me :scared: school and work is keeping me busy, thats for sure!

UPenn
Tufts
VA-MA
Illinois-Urbana

Also congrats, Shiny_bluesky (spelling?) for your interview! If only American schools were that prompt! 🙂

Best of luck everyone!

Lisa

Just Penn here too. Wait, wait, and wait some more.

Am I crazy for only applying to one school? (I'm a PA resident)

Are any of these your state school....just curious?

Everywhere: UP, Iowa, Tenn., Cornell, Wisc.,Auburn, Fla.,Tufts, Guelph, Mich.,Minn, Purdue, Western, Massey, Glascow (received my interview date for Feb. 6 in NY-yeah!!) My first choice is UP, then Tufts and Cornell-they are all alot closer to my home (NJ) but did not feel confident enough to not apply everywhere-esp. since no school is "in state" for me.

😀 Here's to applying to every darn place we can! I'm glad I'm not alone in applying to many!

Wow, February 6. That seems so far away! I guess it's easier knowing you at least have an interview, rather than not knowing anything yet?

Good luck!

I applied to:

K-State
Iowa State
Illinois

I didn't end up having the (metaphorical) balls to apply just to Davis, even though it's my in-state. So I added Penn (near my folks, and I used to work there), Minnesota and Wisconsin (both for the research environment). I sent scores and transcripts to Tufts, but my interest is more in the city than the school, and I never quite got motivated enough to start from scratch on another application...

I just found I have an interview with K-state!!

Congrats!! 😀 👍 When is your interview scheduled for?

Wow, I didn't realize that US schools sent interview invites this early! And I thought I had a few months before beginning the hard-core nail biting.

Lisa

Congrats apple! Are you a KS resident or a non-resident?

Good luck!!!

It is December 16th.... but it's my state school, so I think they do those interviews first.

UC Davis (First choice, in-state, and undergrad there now!)
UPenn
Colorado
Washington
Oregon

And currently finishing up my Tufts app.

UC Davis Class of 2007

I'm not embarassed to say that I also applied to many (24 total)..just because I want to make sure I don't have to reapply next year 🙂
Also, I really just want to have a choice. I want to go to a school because it "fits" me, not just because they accepted me.

Cornell is top choice b/c its my state school and my fiance is in med school in Syracuse.
Applied to foreign schools too: RVC, Dublin, Glasgow (interview 2/5 in NYC), Edinburgh

Good luck to everyone!

Just wondering, do the colleges react positively or negatively toward prospective students who apply to so many schools? (I also applied to several!)

It definitely doesn't show individual schools that you have a strong interest in their program, but for some applicants (i.e., a nontraditional student) the benefits of applying to many schools may outweigh the possible downfalls.

In a recent meeting with someone in admissions at CSU, she seemed slightly surprised that I applied to 10 (as it was expensive to do so). But, she also acknowledged my intensions are sincere and that because I am a non-trad, it's time to get on with my life.

Even though I have applied to a bunch, I feel like I have solid reasons for each of them. Hopefully it will work out!

I started to apply to many, but did only apply to 5. If I don't get in this year, I definitely will apply to many more next year. I'm 32 years old and don't want to wait 5 or 6 years to get in. I think I aced the Bio GRE this past Sat. so I hope that helps at Okalahoma.

UPenn
UF
Kansas state
Auburn
Tufts

Good Luck everyone!

Only K-State, its my home state, Received my interview, Dec 16. Only a month away AH! Good luck to everyone

Got a Michigan State interview today for early Dec. ! 🙂

I applied to DVM/PhD programs at Cornell, Colorado, and Davis, and the DVM program at Washington. I know Cornell is a way long shot, and that Davis rarey takes from out of state (I'm from Washington). Any one else apply to joint programs?

I found out yesterday that i have an interview at Bristol as well! But it's only 6 days after my other one.....

Can you people across the pond apply to as many schools as you like? In England, we can only apply to a maximum of 4.

Katie

Hi everyone:

I applied to Cornell, UPenn, Tenn, Wis, Ill, Wash, Davis.

Good luck to everyone!

Hi!
I applied to:
Michigan State
UC Davis

Good luck to everyone!!!

I applied to

Cornell
Upenn
Tennessee
Tufts
UC Davis

I'm probably not going to hear anything for a while; the wait is getting painful.

I applied to quite a few as well, but thats because my fiancee is applying to Dental school as well, and the only way that we can live in the same CITY is if we apply out of state!

Texas A&M (In state) with interview soon =)
Ohio <-- where I really wanna go!
Minnesota
Colorado
Florida
North Carolina Chapel Hill

If i only get in to A&M and he gets into a dental school in Texas then we will be at a minimum 2 hrs away from each other...but oh well, its only 4 years right? and i would crawl over a dead man's body to be a veterinarian, even if the vet school was in Pakistan 😀

and i would crawl over a dead man's body to be a veterinarian

I hear ya!!

I'm going for Colorado State and Western. Currently undergrad at CSU, but hoping for Western.

I feel your pain InfiniVet... my SO is a vet- the job market here is terrible, so he's relocating to Phoenix this summer, and Western is only 4 hours away!

North Carolina Chapel Hill

No one gets accepted to vet school there. 😉

I think you mean NC State University. They're our biggest rival, so I had to say something. 😀

UPenn
Virgina-Maryland
Royal Veterinary College
Massey

So... either state (Penn), next door, or taking flight. Sorta random, I guess, but I decided that if I was going to go too far from home I was going to go all out.

i'm glad i'm not the only one who applied to many schools (14). in from NJ so i don't have a state school. does anyone know if there's any truth to the rumors that NJ isn't giving money to students who go to "contract" schools? (UPenn, Cornell, etc).

keygirl,

NJ didn't totally cut the funding, for now we're all recieving $7,600/yr instead of $12,000. but maybe it will go up? hopefully not go down! It shouldnt affect admissions though! good luck!

True. And when they had the program, you had to apply for it like NOW
I moved out of NJ and will go to vet school to the tune of $7K a year!!!!! Plus Im out of the armpit of America!!!!!😛

And when they had the program, you had to apply for it like NOW

what are you talking about? they do still have the program and you dont have to apply for it at all...they just give the money on a need-based basis.
