So I jacked the verbal on the 4/29 test and ended up with a 24Q. PS10 V5 BS9. I'm planning on applying to mostly DO schools. I obviously want to retake to get my verbal up. I had scored as high as 11 so a subscore of 5 is really tough. My application is almost ready to submit. My question is should I submit now, retake the mcat and update it? Or should I wait to submit until I get my new score? I'm not really ready to take the mcat again immediately. When should I retake? Thanks for the help.

Depending on your GPA, your composite might be OK for some DO schools. Although I'm not sure what their subscore cutoffs are.

Was this significantly below any of your usual practice scores? If yes, I'd say just go ahead and retake ASAP. If not, or if your scores were all over the place, maybe apply and plan to take again in the fall after some hardcore practice over the summer?

I don't think a 5 is acceptable for any DO schools. However, I don't know much about DO schools in general.

You might have burned out since your average verbal was much higher. Another possibility is that your verbal sources weren't that good (ex. Kaplan). If your averages were from the AAMC FLs, I'd be leaning more towards burnout.
