So I applied to both MD and DO schools. In Septermber, I completed all my secondary MD apps 1st, and a week or 2 later started doing the DO school secondaries. I wish I would have known that I'd hear almost immediately from DO schools!!!
PROBLEM: I got interview offers for DO school before they received my supps! Now a month later I have 5 DO school interviews and only 1 MD interview. I applied to 25 MD schools and 9-10 DO schools. I prefer MD but I'm about to spend all my allotted interview travel $$$ on flying to these DOs.
Plus I guess I won't even hear from most of the MDs until Jan-Feb.
HELP: Should I just go on every interview as soon as possible until I am accepted somewhere (so basically accumulate some debt) or should I call and reschedule or postpone some of my interviews?
Specifically I'm trying to decide if I should go to both/neither NYCOM and KCUMB before winter break or if I should just go to 1 of them, assuming I'll hear from some more schools...
NYCOM interests me > KCUMB but I dunno...
Thx ppl!

I can't tell you what is best for you; that's a personal decision. However, I can tell you that I think it's a good idea to interview at the schools you think you may attend, even if it is a bit of a remote chance. It's hard to judge a school on paper. You may end up really liking a school you didn't think you'd like based on your interview. Money, as long as it isn't completely limiting (and it sounds like it isn't for you), shouldn't be the cause of abandoning an interview; your interest in attending should be a more primary consideration. If you don't think you'll attend a given school, then you needn't attend the interview. However, if you think you may, it could be a good idea to go. On the other hand, the smart applicant will probably be less willing to say no to any interview without having at least one acceptance in hand. That's my 2 cents.

Thank you. I'm going to go to every interview I can that works with my schedule (despite the cost). At this point I definitely cannot bypass any opportunities offered to me.
Are you attending KCUMB? If so, do you like it? I heard it's a good school but I'm from CA and have never been to Missouri.
I heard that 87% of the people interviewed are accepted. That's reassuring. I hope I like it and I hope they like me too.

I interviewed there today and was extremely impressed.

For what it's worth.

My top two choices are currently schools that I didnt seriously consider before I visited, don't sell any school short if you can help it

they both suck..flip a coin

KCUMB is a good school. I'm not going to be able to offer you an objective opinion, since I'm a student there, but I will say that I felt that no other school could compare with KCUMB after I interviewed with them.

I think all medical schools are pretty comparable. They'll all get you there. The bottom line is that you have to find the one that fits you the best.

If you have any questions about KCUMB, I'll be happy to answer them. Just send me a PM.
