where do you throw away your vials?

I have been always throwing away vials in special containers as if they were sharp items. But I was told that ,in guidelines from OSHA, vials are not mentioned as sharp items.

do you throw away your vials with

-- regular trash
-- blood contaminated items
-- sharp items?

We're taught that if an item has a significant chance of *becoming* sharp (i.e., carpules breaking in the trash), it needs to be disposed of with other sharps.
