Where I get my BS...does it matter?

The whole deal is I am looking at transferring to a university to finish up my BS in biology but I have to choose between an out of state university that is like 30 mins away or UGA which is ~2 hours away. The reason I ask is because I would really like to get into MCG but do dental schools really look at and take into consideration which state you get your bachelors? Or does it just matter where you live?

It's based on where you live, not where you attend college. I lived in Tennessee for 4 years during college, but am still a N.C. resident. If you grew up in GA, you are a GA resident, unless you apply for residency in another state.

Yup....only contingent on your state residency.

Thanks. I figured so but I just didn't want to take my chances without asking first. I knew they based it upon where you live and not where you go to school it's just that since MCG is an in state only school I didn't know if they would more or less favorably at someone that went to an in state school over someone who went out of state. Basically, if you haven't got the point yet I don't want to hurt my chances. MCG is hard enough to get in as it is, or so I hear.

If you are asking that by going to a supposedly better tier school, your chances are better. It depends, if you end up with <3.5 GPA then perhaps, but if you do well it does not matter where you got your B.S as long as your GPA is good meaning 3.7 +/- .2 .

Try to work REALLY HARD and get into your state school since is has the lowest tuition in Nation, even I am jealous .

I wasn't really asking that but it brings up another area I might need to look into. Not really sure how the two schools are ranked in comparison to one another. I probably need to look that up. I am trying to bring up my GPA and will hopefully have it up around 3.5 by the time I start applying. I ended up bringing it from a ~2.7 to a ~3.1 but now that I have it up there its taking forever to bring it any higher. Doing the math, even with a full load in the fall (and assuming all A's) it will only bring it up like 0.1-0.2. Anyways, yeah I probably need to go with the higher ranking school.

Yeah, believe me I am I saw the numbers for tuition and now it is my goal to get into MCG. I plan on getting my GPA to a competitive level and doing my best to rock the DAT.
