Hey, where is Kent lately? This board ain't the same w/o him. I think someone posted about that a few weeks back but I don't remember a response.

I was wondering that too. I think there was a big tiff between he and some other mods and he just retired. You're right, he is missed. 🙁

Agreed. He is missed. But he was getting my my way. I had to take him out. Got big plans to moderate all of SDN, and he was the first casualty.

Actually, he just sort of up and vanished. Not sure why. Spoke with Sophiejane about it since she and I have been around here for a few years and she didn't know either. So, we're both assistant mods trying to fill in the gap along with residency. Not on par with Kent, I'll admit.

As said by others, I hope all is well.

I believe this to be correct. It was briefly mentioned in a post by FoughtFyr from the EM forum as FF decided to bow out due to these issues. Don't bother searching, the post (and I think now the entire thread) were long ago deleted.

He was always so diplomatic and seemed to be pretty much unflappable. I'm surprised someone got under his skin so much that he just bailed.

I prefer to think that he was abducted by a super-secret Nicaraguan world-domination force. He's currently sitting in some cell with loong hair and a beard; resolutely withstanding psychological torture as they try to hack the back-end of SDN.

I too miss Kent. He was a great source of advice/information for those of us trying to decide between FM and another specialty.

Not to be reading into things, because a "certain mod" has been successful in driving away other mods on different forums, but I wonder if Kent is devoting more time to his practice and home life. His other online ventures have ceased updates too. It looks like he simply decided to pull back.

It sucks that he pulled back all the way though.

I, too, really enjoyed his comments advocating for FM. I say we rename this place "The Blue Dog Forum".

He is missed but is focusing on his practice and his family right now and is doing well. I wouldn't be suprised if he checks in from time to time.

But just in case he doesn't, I'll let him know of the interest here and will ask users who did see the thread in the EM forum to take it with a HUGE grain of salt as there were many inaccuracies printed there. Kent knows he is welcome back at any time.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone. I figured I'd post once more as "KentW" just to clear up any speculation about my absence. I wasn't driven away, and didn't leave in a huff. I just needed a break. At the time I left, I was moderating a half-dozen different forums, and was spending an inordinate amount of time dealing with disruptive users who were, frankly, taking the fun out of things. I do have a lot going on IRL (in a good way), which leaves me less time for online obligations. Life is good, and SDN has somehow managed to survive without me. 😉

Rest assured that I still lurk from time-to-time, and occasionally post using a different user ID. I consider SDN to be a terrific resource, and will continue to contribute, albeit on a smaller scale.

Re-animated is right. Now, if you had stayed in your rightful HOME which is the FM forum, you wouldn't have gotten all burned out and bummed out.

<muttering to herself as she walks away....leaving a sleep-deprived intern and a second year resident here to hold down the fort...expecting us to work 90 hours a week for beans then coming home to check on the forum...hmmmph...I give and I give and I give for you people...>
