Hey All
Hope everyone is having good success in landing the interviews at progrmas they applied too.. Ive applied to 14 places and have only heard back from MCG in Augusta and UF.
USF sent me an email stating if i was aware that a DO student is required to do a 1 year internship to practice in Florida. I replied back that I was aware but will be applying for a waiver of that requirement
Has any other DO students faced this situation??

Anyways hopefully Ill hear from some more programs soon/

Hi Riz, I just wnat to wish you a lot of luck on your interview trail 🙂 Maybe I will see you at U of F or MCG! :luck:

well i haven't been in your exact situation but i am starting to wonder if being a d.o is affecting getting psyc interviews. i didn't think it would because psyc is relatively non-competitive but so far i've only heard from 4 psyc programs and i applied to like 15 or 20 places on like sept 1. by now i thought i would've been offered interviews at more than 4 places. i dunno, it is a bit worrisome to me since it's almost november but what is a d.o to do

I'm a D.O..
I have 12 interviews. They may not be at the top places. But decent places I would go to.

Um, I applied to 19, am at a reasonably good MD school, and have heard from 5, and I'm not worried - my dean said that as long as we had 3, we'd place somewhere.

I'm a DO, and I've actually heard from 19 places. Of course, I applied to quite a few more than you (35) and I'm not actually going to all of these places, but I so far don't feel that the DO think has affected applying. Although, no word from the west coast at all, so maybe there's some bias there. Who knows.

hey, I've applied to 36 schools and have only heard from 6 programs! Although I did apply to all the California programs, and I've heard from USC and UCLA-SFV. I think there's an East Coast bias against DO's, because I've only heard from one of their programs (St. Luke's) and I applied to almost all of them.

I haven't really heard that about the east coast. For example, a person from my school is actually chief resident of medicine at yale, and I know quite a few others accepted to east coast schools from my school. I personally haven't heard from some of the east coast schools I applied to, but I really didn't apply to that many so I definitely understand your frustration since you applied to a lot in that area. It's funny cuz I have always heard that the west coast is more biased actually. Who really knows, I guess.
