hello everyone,

i am new to the dental forums. i 've been posting in the pre-dental forums for a while now but from now on, expect more of me here....anyways,

i have a list of items i need to purchase before school starts. most of them are related to NBDE1. you know...things like dental decks...old exams...etc

question 1: when is the best time to purchase them (when is demand low for them? i'd like to have them before dental school starts)?
question 2: where do i purchase them? students, SDN, amazon?...
question 3: are old exams hard to come by? how do students obtain them?

thank you very much in advance for the replies. 😳 😳

Hi there,

Why would you want to buy Part 1 now as it will be over a year before you have study for it? I would check with the Third year class and buy from them. I really don't think you will have problems finding the material to buy. DP

The class above you (2009) will sell/give them to you after they take their exams.

#1. Don't rush out and buy new books. There are plenty of people willing to sell the used ones and half the time the text book isn't required to pass the class.

#2 Dental Decks can be bought from upper-classman or gotten for free from some places on your campus. Don't buy these now; you won't need them for a while. 😉 Plus, you need all that memory space in your head for what they are going to cram in soon enough.

#3 Old exams, depending on your school will either been given to you by an upper classman (like us, we get a test file), or you pay for them (transcripts). Keep in mind though, not everyone will get the same info (so share if you have good stuff), and I'd guess some schools may have tried to make getting them near impossible. Some in my class have been stupid enough to go ask faculty questions with old exams in their hands and now our tests are nothing like any of the 10-15 years before this.... I mean how many ways can you ask questions on the TCA cycle without just being ridiculous??? ....

And hey, CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU for getting in, and good luck!
