Hi, fellow predental students
To those already interviewed at Temple,
Where did you guys stay for the interview?

I have tried calling a few places (the school recommended) but it's either too far away from the school or $$.

Also, did you guys use taxi or subway?

I'd appreciate your response
Thanks and good luck with your app process!!!

i remember i stayed at the comfort inn(?), it was ok... it was really close to a dave and buster and close to center philly... i took a cab there and then took the subway back w/ a lot of people that interviewed and Mark (the guy that use to do the interviews). I definately wouldn't recommend staying anywhere close to the school. Good luck 🙂

I also stayed there. The rooms were okay, but my room was right next to the freeway! That was very annoying!

I took the hotel's shuttle to the school and the subway back. I remeber that Mark guy was trying to pick up chicks on the subway! Good times!

Thank you, Dental Dream and star girl!

Specifically did you guys stayed at Comfort Inn downtown historic area?

if so, how far is it from Comfort Inn to the Temple?

Again, thanks for your response.😉

i live in philadelphia right now (i'm in my first year at penn), and when i interviewed at penn last year, i stayed at the hyatt at penn's landing (which is on the delaware river), which i bid on through priceline.

there's a great website (http://www.biddingfortravel.com) where you can see rock-bottom priceline rates throughout the USA. browse the philadelphia board, and you can usually get rates similar to what other people are getting (unless your interview is during some peak time). i think i paid between $50-55 with taxes and fees total for the hyatt room, and i had a great view.

anyway, the hyatt's about a 4-minute walk to the subway station, which would take you to temple in about 20 minutes. you can also take a cab (probably about $8 since temple's about 2-3 miles north of downtown), but either way, if you're thinking about staying in/near downtown, this is a pretty nice hotel (as are all of the other four 4-star hotels that are in downtown that are a part of priceline). plus, if it's in your price range, it's a lot more fun to stay in a nicer hotel. last year, when i interviewed, i used priceline for all of my hotel needs and got some nice hotels in downtowns of several cities i had never visited...

let me know if i can help you out with anything else philadelphia/priceline related.

Thank you, Bort

Your reply was greatly appreciated🙂

Hope you enjoy your life at Penn, a great school.

so I guess a lot of people over there use subway transportation like NY.

Yea, he talked about his black belt, his bridge tournaments, and he showed us his photos of famous people.

BTW he got rejected on the subway

i'll bet mark's reading this right now....

lifeisshort-Center City is your best bet...just make sure there is a subway station(Broad St. line) nearby. The fair I believe is under $2 and there is a stop right under the dental school. Good luck.

Dentaldream-In case you didn't notice at your interview, Mark, how should I put this...bats for the "other team". I HIGHLY doubt he was hitting on chicks on the subway. Just FYI.

Really?? He kept telling us he loves temple because of all of the good looking women there. 😕

Either way, he's a nice guy.

Like some of you guys mentioned in other posts, he is a GREAT salesmen. That said, yes, he is a very nice and genuine guy and every single thing he said on my interview has been true thus far and I can't say enough good things about this program.

I just booked a hotel for my temple interview in the "historic waterfront" distric". It seems kinda far. ..The lady on the phone was not helpful at all (brotherly love my....) But anyways, does anyone know the area???
any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...

Sorry to disappoint all of you in your conversations about Mark, but he is no longer at Temple. Just thought I'd pass it along.

Yeah, already know that.

Too bad that I don't get to meet him at the interview
Anyway, to those who know more about Temple;
what are some good things about Temple other than it's a good clinical school.
Thanks

Bill Cosby is an alumnus there. You might get to hear him speak at your white coat ceremony!🙂

Seriously, when I interviewed there, it seemed like the students liked their school and knew each other very well. I could be wrong, but my impression was it was a close-knit class.

I'm just about to go to bed now, just wanted to let you know that I am interviewing at temple tomorrow (thursday), wish me luck guys...(and for the interview at penn on friday)
I'll try to let you know how the interviews went by the end of this weekend...HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!!!😀

When are you interviewing there? I'm there next week. I am staying at the Radisson @ Warwick. Looks like a nice place and not alot of $$$$. It was rated as a top ten hotel in PA. I know that this does not seem that important but I am bringing my girlfriend so I wanted it to be nice for her. She is hesitant about Philly. I on the other hand cannot wait! Temple is my #1 pick.

Here are just a few things I've found in the first ten weeks I've been here (I can't believe it's been ten weeks already!!!).
1. The people-you will see what I'm talking about when you interview there-just talk to a few students or professors. People here are downright friendly. There are always going to be a few a-holes in the group but on the whole (no pun intended), there seem to be relatively few people that fit that category here.
2. Atmosphere-There is no cutthroat attitude like there might be at some other schools. Classmates and professors are very helpful. The most valuable asset for me so far have been the upperclassmen. Make friends with your upperclassmen casue they know everything (I guess this goes true for virtually anywhere).
3. Schedule-the school tries to ease freshmen into the program so the courseload starts off light (for a dental school) and progressively gets heavier. My opinion on this will probably change when I get to the heavy end of the schedule:laugh:
4. Social scene-there are a lot of parties if you are into that sort of thing...a lot of students here are.
5. Atlantic City is nearby in case you need a little break.😀
Atmosphere is a very important thing when considering dental schools and you should keep that in mind when you are interviewing. Ask yourself, is this the type of atmosphere I want to be in for the next four years? Obviously, the neighborhood surrounding the school isn't that great but I really haven't had any problems whatsoever and have become very comfortable walking around there. Anyways, good luck and let me know if you got any questions.
