Hey everyone!

I am a rising 4th year applying to dental school this cycle (I know I missed the best time to apply in June) in late July. I was wondering where I should realistically apply and to how many schools? I am interested in practicing dentistry, either ortho or pedo (I adore kids! As a guy should I emphasize this? I know may pedo docs are women).

GPA: 3.56 SciGPA: 3.58 (my school loves grade deflation unfortunately, but my junior year was almost all As)

PAT: 21
QR: 18 (nay!)
RC: 26 (yea!)
Bio: 22
GC: 22
OC: 22
TS: 22
AA: 22 (that pesky QR...)

I have 60 shadowing hours with 5 different dentists and 4 specialties.

I have three on campus jobs to help pay for school and because I enjoy working, and have excelled at my teaching assistant job and have record turnout to my help sessions compared to previous years.

Summer Biochem research experience, presented at a conference.

CA resident, not sure if that helps or hurts my chances at the CA publics. White guy. Worried about my GPA, but I hope the DAT can clarify the difficulty of grading at my school.

Suggestions for schools that I should apply to/how many? Thank you so much!!!

No. You attend to dental school to become a general dentist, NOT a specialist. Do not make this a key feature of your application.

Your stats will get you into a lot of places. Around 10 schools will be enough for you. I would suggest checking the official dental school guide to figure out where you want to go as everyone has different preferences.
