Hi, I'm looking to get two tuning forks (512 Hz and 128 Hz) and a reflex hammer for my physical diagnosis class. I could get the stuff online but the shipping is rather high for such small items so I was wondering if anyone in NYC who knows where to find the equipment could let me know?

I know the Barnes and Noble medical bookstore has them, but for insanely inflated prices so I would be better off getting them off somewhere like eBay.

Thanks!

Wouldn't you be better off asking this in the allo forum or your fellow classmates? I'm sure they would know more about this sort of thing.

* Doesn't your school's bookstore have these items?

* I don't think you need two tuning forks. The 512 Hz (if I remember correctly) can be used for both testing vibratory sensation AND for the Weber/Rinne tests. The 128 Hz can only be used for the Weber/Rinne test, but, as I said, the 512 Hz could probably do that test just as well.

Honestly, you won't really need to do the Weber/Rinne tests. The audiologist really does those. You just need to know the theory of the test and how they're performed. So don't buy the 128 Hz.

(I'm actually not even comfortable encouraging you to buy the 512 Hz, since you probably will never use it again unless you go into neurology, but if your school requires it....)

yes, I need all three tools in order to participate in the physical diagnosis course. Just was wondering if anyone in NYC knew where I could go to get therm. Our bookstore doesn't stock the equipment

thanks for the allheart suggestion, but it would be cheaper to pay the inflated prices at the B&N Med store in the city because of the shipping charges.
