Hi,

I just got my preliminary award letter and I'm wondering how to find a master promissory note. Is this the same as applying for a Stafford loan online? Also, do I need to choose a guarantor as well as a lender -- how do I begin to do this? Will I get the codes after I apply for the loan?

Thanks for your help!

Doesn't your school have a financial aid website with instructions? For the best efficiency you are usually going to have to fill out a form with what lender you chose. Guarantors are school dependent with each lender. They will often have different terms. The codes are usually on the MPN and the MPN is usually what you sign with the lender online.

Bottom line: Check your financial aid office to see recommended lenders. (Usually the ones that don't have origination fees).
