I just got those lovely MCAT scores. I went from a 13K last Aug to a 19O. I was told that was a good jump. I don't want to take it this August because I would fear going down in score.

I really want to get into med school this year. What should I do. My stats are right now I have a 3.20 science GPA and now a 19O MCAT score. I work a full time job (40+ hours a week), a part time job at a hospital (PRN), I volunteer for the American Red Cross, and go to school part time too. I am also an EMT-B. I am taking more classes this summer and this fall, if things go right I should be able to raise my science GPA to 3.40 by the end of fall classes.

I would love some suggestions on what I should do. What schools would be the best for me to apply to. I have 2 DO rec letters from alumni here at the school in KC and tons of shadow time.

Any help would be great.

Thanks

From your volunterring and LORs I would think you got some pretty good stock going. For the score i dunno. I recieved some info from Midwestern(CCOM) up here in chicagho and the average MCAT is 26 for most matriculants. I hope that helps a little.

If you really don't want to take the MCAT again - apply DO and Carib (my friend was in a similar situation and wanted to go D.O. but applied to AUC and SGU) He got accepted to both with a 19 - AUC didn't even interview him. If you want to go D.O. cough up the money and apply. You never know.

Hey I am just thinking of applying without retaking as well. I doubt I will, but I am confused what to do. I have the same score as you, with even numbers as well... This is to hard to decide! I want to go DO too, but just wish I could apply and get in nearby!

I got accepted with MCAT in the low 20s, but my GPA is pretty high. I freaked when the score came out last year also, but I decided to apply anyway to see what my chances would be....and here I am. I'm not proud of my score, I could have done better, but I also work full-time and part-time at the hospital like you. Give it a try

Does anyone know of any schools that have taken anyone with low scores like me??

What would be some good schools to apply to??

Please let me know how it turns out.
