Hey guys, so I just found out I got accepted into PCOM-GA Biomedical Certificate Program. I also got into TouroCOM New York Master's Program! So I have to make a decision and wondering if you guys could help me out! Both schools are fairly new and really great programs. Each has its plus's and minus's.

TouroCOM Harlem-new school, Masters program that starts in the summer, 35 hrs long, if you get a 3.5 or above, you get automatic acceptance into their DO school. The negatives are that its in Harlem, not that of a great area to live in, living expenses would kill me, weather would kill me (from the south), can't bring my car, and expenses overall would suck!

PCOM-GA-another new school, Certificate program with trimester but starts in Fall. I think if you get a 3.0 or higher, you get an automatic interview with their DO school. The good things are that the school is in the suburbs, good area, I can bring my car, weather is decent, living expenses are not that bad, I would be living with my brother, and my sister-in law goes to the DO school, so I got some family, and much closer to home! The only bad thing is that it's not an automatic acceptance like Touro. The classes over here look more like med school classes than Touro though!

So, I want you guys to chime in and give me some advice on what program is better!!! People who have gone here or who are going here could really help me out. I dont know much about PCOM GA's program. How high of a gpa do I have to get to get an interview for their DO school, do I still have to do the normal application and there is no lag year right? How many students actually get in to the DO school from the program. I am talking about GA PCOM b/c philly's stats might be different and harder!

*This is pretty arguable, but PCOM's biomed program is pretty well known across the various DO schools.
*Starting in the fall is a plus
*At GA, you have the option of doing a 2 year masters (NON-THESIS track is also possible, but not possible in PA) if you don't get into a med school the following fall
*PCOM-GA isn't huge, so you'll def. get some attention from the faculty and staff
*Biomeds at PCOM automatically get an interview if they apply, so I imagine GA can't be much different.

I really don't know too much about Touro, as you can probably tell. I'm currently in the biomed program in PA. In the end, I would choose the school that I'd like to goto for DO school since the post-bac programs for each program gives you a shoe-in for their respective DO programs.

Good luck with you choice 🙂

Thanks for the feedback. Yea, i've been doing a lot of research and it seems that PCOM's biomed program is pretty great. The classes seem like first year med school classes and the program looks really great to boost my chances for D.O. school! Also, the GA campus is pretty much new with great facilities which would be aweseome!

I still had some concerns though? Do you have any idea how many people in the biomed program get into the D.O. school while there in the program. We still have to apply like everyone else right? So, I will get an interview just for being in the program if thats what ur saying? Say I get a 3.5 GPA or higher, does that mean I'm a shoe in for the med school next year?? I mean I want to go to the school that gives me the best chance of going to DO school and I do prefer going to PCOM then Touro because it seems like a better school overall but I would hate to do well in the program and not get into their DO school!!

I'm in the same shoe as the OP. Got admitted into masters' program in PCOM (in Philly, not GA) and TOUROCOM and now don't know which to choose. PCOM requires a deposit of $500 in a week but I can't make up my mind. Like the OP, I just want as high of a chance to be in a DO program as possible, you might call it linkage. Living for TOUROCOM would suck, does anyone know how it is in Philly? Is it right in the city? expensive? etc? Any suggestion is appreciated.
