i have a RC of 17. today i called UOP. they told me it's rediculously low that i might get rejected. have you guys hear any case that get invited of an interview with RC 17???????

thanks

Im sure other schools will give you a fair shot. But some schools put more of an emphasis than others on RC. LIke at UNLV we were told that your RC is the most impt.

I got 19 in RC which is not good...compared to my aa and ts
but I got 6 interviews so far so...
I guess it is not much of a problem...

19 is a decent score though.

I have a friend who got 16 on RC and got three interviews last year. He got accepted by two of them. Don't worry. You'll be fine.

Research done at my school suggests that RC is the most important predictor of success at dental school. However, this doesn’t mean that you won’t get in to a dental school. Some schools only look at the numbers and other look at the total application/person. I got into more than half of the schools I applied to, 12 schools in total. My stats, if I remember correctly were: DAT 18 overall, cGPA 3.69, sGPA 3.73. So don’t sweat it, UOP is a school that looks at numbers more than the total application. I didn’t even get an interview there, but I was accepted to an Ivy League school, go figure.

I don't see how it's a predictor. I got 19 my first DAT when I didn't practice...I got 16 the second time around :scared: My reading skills got worse?

RC is a lot about luck.....if a passage is about genetic diseases, the genetics majors will answer the questions without even looking at the passage, leaving them almost 60 minutes to complete 2 passages. We've all experienced (or heard of a situation) where you didn't even read the thing.

If it was a passage that ALL test takers had absolutely no previous experience with, then I'd say it was standardized. Otherwise it seems like quite the crapshoot sometimes.

But then again maybe i'm just bitter that my new RC score.....all I'm saying here is that these tests aren't as standardized as they claim to be.

thank you guys, i am feeling more hopeful now. just need to be patients. sux to be a FOB!!!!

oh, I agree with you on this...I went to Kaplan without any prepare and got a 19 in RC on the diagnostic, and on all my practices (Topscore and Kaplan) never had lower than 18...On the real thing I got 16...I agonized over it many days and couldn't understand what went wrong!!!!!🙁
