This question may seem kind of stupid but if we plan to spend the night at a hotel or stay with a student host the night before the interview, what do we do about our luggage before we head off to interview? I'm asking b/c we have to check out of the hotel before we leave and it also seems impolite to tell the student host that we're going to leave our luggage there and return back for it later.

Do most students just bring a single carry-on and drag it with them throughout the interview?

Sorry if I missed something completely obvious. I haven't traveled by myself so far before!

Most hotels give you the option of leaving luggage in a special area near the lobby even after you've checked out of your room. That's what I did for my interviews. After the interview, I'd just stop by the hotel again and pick up my luggage.

at every school i've been to so far, people have been bringing their luggage to the interview. The admissions office just keeps them in the office for you for the day. Much easier than paying another cab fare to go to the hotel and then another fare to the airport.

there was a thread on this before and the general consensus was that admissions offices usually have a designated space where luggage can be stored, and it will not make you look cheap to do it.

every admissions office has a place for it, and most students leave their stuff there. don't sweat the details folks.

Agreed. There's always a place for you to keep it at the med school. They understand that you're traveling and will have a suitcase with you. You won't be judged for it. Good luck!

Also random question: thoughts on where to change out of a suit after the interview before a flight the same day?

I was just going to end up wearing the suit on the plane. I don't have much of an option..

I don't want it to get all wrinkled and stuff. I was just going to change into regular clothes in the restroom or something, shouldn't take more than 5 minutes.

Yeah I guess changing in a public restroom works. Did you all do this at the medical school or somewhere outside of the med school on the way to the airport?

Perhaps a silly question, but I think it might be odd to change in a restroom somewhere in the medical school and then run into an interviewer or someone from admissions. (Not that they will necessarily care, but still...) Thoughts?

I ran into a student tour guide this way after I changed my clothes. She told me I look spanking better in my decked out suit. I was gonna ask her for her number but decided against it.

yeah, if I were to change in a public restroom, it would be an airport restroom, but mostly because I don't have time to tool around after my interviews (flights are too tightly scheduled)

Haha nice! Yeah it's not that big a deal I guess- I am overthinking about this one I think 😉

Just changing in the restroom at the school is probably easiest.

Contrarian- changing in the airport works too (esp if your flights are close to the interview)...
