I will be doing the NIH Postbac IRTA program this year. I am tweaking my CV and was wondering if this should go under education or research (or work)? It doesn't have a structured curriculum and I will not be getting graded in the traditional sense.

It is not an education in any way- you can list it both as an award (as IRTA is an "award") and as a research experience - for your CV (since CVs are specialized I generally wouldn't include "work" in it unless it's important to whatever you are applying to....so if you're including research in your CV it must mean the CV is specific for something research related, ergo "work" in the general sense should really be "research").

Some classes you take at the NIH can be used on your AMCAS, but it is not an institution for courses.

Also I'm not sure what you mean by it doesn't have a structured curriculum or graded in the traditional sense, lol. You are a research fellow, i.e. no curriculum and no grades and only research. Classes are optional (so in that case, yes, you would receive a grade).

I just wanted to stress that this is not like the pre-med postbacs that I saw being discussed on this forum 🙄 Thanks for the response. I'm putting it under research and awards... which leads me to another question: can it go in two places, or should I choose one?

That would be per your discretion, imo. You definitely could have it listed in both and have it not be a problem (since awards are usually just brief listings)...but yeah I don't see it being a problem

Also, grats on getting it.
