Looking for some help from some prepharm people out there. Here is my situation. I am 24 yo with a bs in accounting. I thought of pharmacy when i graduated high school, but was all about pursuing business, needless to say I hate working in jobs in sales/business. I have wanted to pursue pharmacy but am so overwhelmed with what to do to start. I took a few science classes in undergrad, physics and a bio class. I did well in chemistry in high school and sciences. Anyone know of any post bacc programs to like get all prerequistes for pharm school, or even some suggestions. It seems every school I look at has different prereq. I know there are programs one year for premed students wnating to be drs going for a diff degree do u suggest those? Any input would be helpful

thanks

If you use the search function you will see many threads like this with information on where exactly to start.

If you are serious about pharmacy, look at the schools you want to apply to. Take note of the classes you'll need to take. Being that you have a BS in accounting, you will have most of the general requirements except for the science classes. The science classes you'll need to take can be taken at a community college. Most masters programs premed students take before entering medical school focus on upper level courses like Biochemistry.

Make yourself a time line and follow it.

Good luck!

First of all I am 24 too...so you are not alone!
Secondly...almost all pharmacy schools require this so just take these classes and you will be fine.
Gen Chem I, Gen Chem II, Org Chem I, Org Chem II, Physics I, Physics II, Calculus I, Calculus II, Statistics (I didn't take this class, but have Calculus III, IV, and every other math ever...), Public speaking (don't have it...:(), Economics, Microbiology, Microbiology Lab (something I didn't take and need to ASAP), Human Anatomy and Phyisology, Gen Biology,

that pretty much covers 90% of the pre q for most pharm schools...
except there will always be some that require a history class or a physical education class (Campbell)

Good luck!

**make sure to take ALL the Labs too...I made the mistake of avoiding microbiol lab and now have to take it!!! which sucks...**
