Well, the interview's on monday, but I need a place for Sunday night. Can anyone recommend a hotel that's on the 2/5 line in Brooklyn or somewhere else relatively affordable and convenient?

Thanks!

Have you tried calling the school and seeing if there are any student hosts available?

Call the admissions department for staying in the student dorms. I called them up expecting to get matched up with a student and stay in his room for the night. They gave me the res life office number, and when I called them they took my name and when I was going to be there, and then said that they'd set me up once I got there. I figured that was fine, so when I went to the student dorms, they gave me a key and a room number. Turns out they have special guest rooms for interviewees to stay in, free of charge. They'll ask you to give a credit card, but that's just as a security deposit, my card was never charged anything. The rooms are really nice too, they're 2 rooms suites, fully furnished with sheets, kitchen with dishes & cups, private bathroom with towels, TV, the works. It's on the floors with the students, so you get to hang with them too. It was funny when I went back in september. None of them had been in the guest room before, and they didn't know what it was. When they saw me go into there, they all crowded around to see what was in the mysterous room. Then they all got jealous because the suite was really nice compared to their rooms, and they weren't allowed to use that room when it was unoccupied. 🙂

Thanks for the detailed tip! I did actually call the res life number a couple weeks ago, and got a helpful (but different) response. They asked me to fill out a form, which I did and mailed it back. But since I haven't heard back from them I wanted to make sure I wouldn't have to sleep in the snow : )

I'll give res life another call tomorrow, thanks again for the info.

Take care!
